Pet
You may take your pets with you on your AnadoluJet flights. To do this your pet must have valid vaccination and health certificates; entry permits and any other documents required by countries of transit are also required.
Rules Regarding the Pet Transport
- The reservation must be made and approved through the Turkish Airlines website and mobile application at the latest 6 hours before the flight time.
- On our planes, in both the cabin and cargo compartments, only cats, dogs, and small passerine birds (budgies, canaries) can be transported as pets.The allowed quota for carrying on pets varies according to the type of aircraft.
- Passengers traveling with in-cabin pets: The pet must be kept in a carrier that fits underneath the seat in front of the passenger.
- On the condition that passengers who have pets and who are allergic to cats, dogs, and birds have travel requests at the same time, their acceptence procedures executed based on their reservation priority.
- Passengers traveling with their pets in the cabin can only choose from the seats located by the window (except the rows with emergency exit doors or infant stroller apparatus) in order not to prevent an emergency evacuation. Passengers with PETC will not be accommodated in rows with emergency exit doors and windows, or in rows with a front screen where baby strollers can be fitted. Only if there are no baby passengers, a passenger traveling with a service dog can be accommodated in the rows where baby strollers can be fitted, and in the middle row seats with emergency exits on wide-body aircraft.
- The transactions of the pets to be transported in the passenger cabin or the cargo compartment are carried out at the check-in counter with the passenger.
- Passengers traveling with caged pets must have "the passenger's name, address, telephone information, the number of pets, and the name of the pet" written down along with the name/address label.
- Have a vaccination card that contains identification information for cats and dogs, and a flight certificate for birds with you. It is important to note that the rabies vaccines listed on the vaccination card must have been given at least 30 days and no more than one (1) year prior to the flight date. Please note that in accordance with the instructions of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, you must obtain a health certificate* for your pet from your veterinarian before you travel abroad from Türkiye.Otherwise, you will not be accepted to the flight.
- Pets are required to appear at check-in looking healthy, clean, and well-kempt. Pets that are in poor health and appearance are not accepted for transportation.
- Please be reminded that transportation of pets is not included in baggage allowance and is subject to additional baggage fees.
- Some countries do not allow passengers traveling with pets for entry, exit, or transit purposes. For further information, please contact the nearest Turkish Airlines Sales Office. Due to country rules, PETC and AVIH cannot be accepted along with passengers on our flights to England.
- The size of allowed cages/bags for pets in the cabin is 23x30x40 cm (height*width*length). Make sure that the cages are as large as to help your pet travel comfortably, stand on foot, turn around itself, and are suitable for lying position.
- The total weight of the pet and cage/bag to be taken into the cabin should not exceed 8 kg. The cages/bags must have a minimum height of 2.5 cm on three sides, have ventilation holes for adequate air circulation, and be made of water-proof materials, with the cage base to prevent spills and leaks.
- If the total weight of the pet and cage/bag exceeds 8 kg or size exceeds 23cmx30cmx40cm, they are taken into the cargo compartment. In addition, we advise you to carry your pets in specially-produced soft case cages or bags rather than plastic carriers. Cages and bags, sizes of which exceed 23cmx30cmx40cm, and do not fit under the front seat will not be taken into the cabin as they cannot be fixed and threaten flight security.
- Pets who share a cage, to be accepted as carrying on into the cabin, must be accustomed to one another, must be of the same species (2 birds, 2 cats, 2 dogs), and must not exceed the permitted weight of 8 kg or the permitted cage size of 23x30x40cm.
- Kittens or puppies who are younger than 10 weeks old or who are still weaning may not be transported, nor may a still weaning mother. Kittens or puppies between 10 weeks and 12 weeks old may only be transported with the express permission of their veterinarian. No more than 3 kittens or puppies from the same mother between 10-24 weeks old who are traveling in the same cage will be permitted. Animals of the same species (each weighing maximum 14 kg for dogs and each weighing maximum 10 kg for cats, similarly sized and familiar with each other) may be transported in a single crate. If each animal weighs more than 14 kg (dogs) and 10 kg (cats), each must have their own crate.
- Pregnant animals and puppies or kittens under 10 weeks old are not permitted on AnadoluJet flights.
- The pet must have a chip.
- Cages must be provided by the owner of the live animal in question.
- A maximum of two pet cages are accepted for each passenger on our flights, but only one of the cages is in the cabin(PETC) and the other is carried in the cargo hold. Or both pet cages are transported as (AVIH).
- Dogs and cats, or cats and birds may not be carried onto the same plane (whether or not they are in the same cabin). Dogs and birds will be placed in separate cabins, or as far away as possible from one another.
- Animals that are indigenous to Turkey and under protection, such as the Sivas Kangal, Angora cats, and Van cats, may be transported on the condition that permission has been granted by the relevant directorates of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Livestock.
- Cats (Birman, Exotic, Persian, Himalayan, Burmese, Scottish Fold and British Shorthair etc.) and dogs (Affenpischer, Pekinese, Pug (All breeds), Shar Pei, Shih Tzu, Japenese Chin, Lhasa Apso, Tibetan etc.) with respiratory problems ) Spaniel, Chow Chow, English Toy Spaniel, English Bulldog, French Bulldog, Boston Terrier, Boxer, Brussels Griffon, Bull Mastiff (English Mastiff) etc.) if the combined weight of the cage does not exceed 8 kg or its size (height 23 cm, width) 30) cm, length 40 cm) passengers were collected in the accompanying cabin (PETC).
- Parrots and pigeons (With the exception of those on CITES List-1) must be transported in the aircraft hold (AVIH). Except for parakeets and canaries, we cannot accept other small bird species into the cabin and we transport them through Turkish Cargo.
- If they are not suitable for carriage in the cabin, we can carry the cargo section of our planes with the Turkish Cargo application for reservation and boarding procedures.
- Guide dogs are animals that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of a person with a disability.
- Passengers traveling with guide dogs (including those who accompany passengers for medical reasons, for vision and hearing impaired passengers) will be allowed to bring their guide dogs into the cabin free of charge. Only psychiatric support dogs are transported in the passenger cabin or in the cargo hold cage, for a fee.
- SVAN dogs must be trained and certified. As per the rules of the country, the passenger is traveling to, all necessary documents required for travel such as mental health professional’s letter for Emotional support dogs, vaccination papers, or identity cards must be available during check-in and boarding procedures on the flight. Guide dogs without all required documentation in full will not be permitted on the flight or according to the suitability of the voyage, it was provided to travel in the cabin as PETC or in the cargo compartment as AVIH, respectively.
- A SVAN dog may not be permitted in the cabin or on the flight if it behaves aggressively during check-in and/or boarding; is not well-maintained and clean; exceeds a certain size; causes a safety hazard; and/or if the crew states that the dog may cause interruption of services or may be transported, in the crate, in the passenger cabin or depending on the availability of the flight, if it is in a cage, can be transported in the cabin as PETC or in the aircraft hold as AVIH. Passengers traveling with SVAN in the cabin may select seats that are not located in rows with emergency exit doors or infant stroller apparatus.
- For a guide dog to be allowed in either the cabin or as cargo, it is required to have the reservation approved at least 48 hours before the flight time.
- As a condition of permitting service dogs to travel in the cabin, we require passengers travelling with a service dog to provide documentation that the animal will not need to relieve itself, or that the animal can relieve itself in a manner that does not create a health or sanitation issue during the flight. Acceptable documents:
- If the SVAN is on the list of animals that are not allowed to enter the country at the destination station, it will not be accepted to the flight.
- A written statement issued by a veterinarian
- A written statement describing the procedures implemented by the passenger to prevent the dog from relieving itself
- A signed statement with photographs or other illustrations of the dog’s ability to relieve itself without posing a health or sanitation problem
- A letter of undertaking stating that, should the dog relieve itself accidentally, the affected area will be thoroughly cleaned by the dog’s owner (please bring bags, napkins, wipes, etc.). All damages that may arise during travel are the passenger’s responsibility.
- If the SVAN is on the list of animals that are not allowed to enter the country at the destination station, it will not be accepted to the flight.
- SVAN dogs must be clean, and wear a vest and/or an identifying harness. Throughout the flight, the dog must be seated in front of the passenger’s feet and the extension of its leash or harness should be attached to the passenger’s belt. It is strictly forbidden for SVAN dogs to sit on passenger seats. When traveling with SVAN dogs, passengers are required to bring a muzzle, in case of barking, bared teeth, etc.
- Please note that we may have to change your seat due to safety reasons and the passenger is liable for any damages the SVAN dog might cause.
- AnadoluJet bears no responsibility for any health issues your pet may experience during or after the flight.
- We recommend that you check the rules of the destination country regarding pets. For your pet to be permitted onto the aircraft, you must carry your pet's vaccination card, ID details, and other documents required by the destination country.
- Full liability of passengers is assumed regarding compliance to health, safety, animal management, and all conditions and permits mandated by governments, regulations, entry and exit permits, health certificates of countries plus restrictions of states, regions or relevant authorities. Requests for traveling with pets may be rejected at airport even if the related reservation is confirmed.
- Transportation of pets in the cabin is governed by the relevant country's laws relating to the entry/exit and transit of live animals. For more information, please review the TIM/TIMATIC sources.
- Saudi Arabia Civil Aviation Authority allows transportation of AVIH, PETC, and SVAN only with the owner (passengers cannot carry AVIH, PETC, SVAN on behalf of others), along with a valid health and vaccination certificate. Before your flights departing from or arriving in Saudi Arabia, you can check the current regulatort conditions on the Saudi Arabia Environment, Water, and Agriculture Ministry website https://naama.sa.
Transporting Pets in Cargo Compartment
- We can carry your pets in their private cages in our cargo compartment that we cannot take into the cabin due to reasons such as cage sizes are unsuitable to standards and it weighs more than 8 kg. Cages must be hard-surfaced to enable your pets to have a safe journey. We do not accept soft cases/cages into the cargo compartments. Make sure that private cages are large enough for your pet to travel comfortably; stand; turn around itself; lie down, take the air in, do not leak water and has lateral closing mechanisms. If the cage dimensions do not exceed 75 cm in height, 75 cm in width and 125 cm in length, we can carry them in the cargo hold of our aircraft. In case the cage sizes exceed these dimensions, we transport your pet through Turkish Cargo. If you have a waiting time of 4 hours or more, or if your flight time is longer than 8 hours, we remind you that food should be kept in the cage (in a container that is filled as it empties or does not spill) to be used in case your pet needs it.
In addition, do not forget to stick a label on the private cage that includes the identity information of your pet.
Pilots make the final decision on whether pets can be transported in the aircraft hold. If the pilot informs staff that ventilation conditions in the aircraft hold are unsuitable, the pet cannot be transported in the aircraft hold.
In the cargo hold, a maximum of three animals (cat/dog) 10-24 weeks old born to a mother can be transported in the same cage. Animals of the same breed, which are close to each other and are accustomed to living together, with a maximum weight of 14 kg each, can be transported in a single cage. If the weight of the animals is greater than 14 kg, they can be accepted alone in the cage.
! We do not accept soft cases/cages into the cargo compartments.
Pets Prohibited on Flights
Due to international aviation regulations, we do not allow some pets onto our aircraft. We cannot transport the dangerous dog breeds such as Bull Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Pitbull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Pitbull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, Fila Brasileiro and American Bully.
We can transport the dangerous dog breeds American Bulldog, Bandog Tosa Inu, Caucasian Ovcharka, Dogue de Bordeaux, Doberman (Pincher Doberman and all Doberman breeds), Presa Canario, Rottweiler, Mastiff (except Bull Mastiff), Wolf Dog Mixed-Breeds, Anatolian Shepherd, Boerboel breeds and crossbreeds only if accepted by Turkish Cargo.
Within the frame of CITES-1, the African gray parrot (scientific name: Psittacus Erithacus) is not accepted on our flights.
Pets With Special Conditions
Please ensure that you have all documentation required for your pet by the destination country with you. Otherwise, we will be unable to transport your pet. Please remember that some countries do not allow pets to enter, exit or transit with passengers. In accordance with the rules of the destination country, the valid vaccination card, pet passport - identity card and all other documentation required for service dogs to be accepted on flights must be made available at all times by passengers. We are unable to carry service dogs if these documents are incomplete or missing. On flights from Turkey to international destinations, domestic animals (angora goat, Sivas kangal, Ankara cat and Van cat), which are native to Turkey and under protection, are allowed in the T.R. We accept it on the condition that it is approved by the sender from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The approval document obtained from the relevant ministry must be presented at the counter before the flight for the animals to be transported.

Acceptance Rules for Pets Traveling on Flights to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus
- For all pets, import license from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Veterinary Department (validity is for 30 days).
- Certificate of export health certificate approved by the veterinary directorate of the country where the first flight was made (certificate must be obtained 48 hours before flight)
- For cats and dogs, a passport and health certificate showing that the animal has been vaccinated against rabies and other illnesses (pet’s rabies vaccination must have taken place at least one month before the flight but not more than one year in advance). Dogs must be vaccinated against Parvo, Distemper, hepatitis, leptospira; cats must be vaccinated against feline enteritis and feline influenza. The laboratory result that shows current antibody levels of cats and dogs must be taken from a laboatory approved by European Union by getting blood test. The antibody level for rabies must be equel to or higher than 0.5I.U/ml.
