My friends at the university consult me about their careers from time to time. They take my advice on the steps that they should take regarding preparations for business life, as well as job opportunities in the future. The story I have told is not an exception. In today’s global and competitive business world, in order to find a respect-worthy position, having a good academic background is a must. However, importance of various factors such as fluent knowledge of a foreign language, interpersonal and intercultural communication, being open to new ideas and environments, and being well prepared for difficult work conditions increase day by day.

What Happens ın the USA?
With Work and Travel it is possible to go anywhere in the USA, from Texas to Alaska, provided that you can find a job of course.The employment season starts on May 15th and continues until October 1st. The maximum period a participant can work is 4 months. In addition to this period, participants can stay in the USA for another month and travel as they wish. One of the most favored stopovers is New York. The balance between travel and work is up to the participant, according to the agreement signed with the employer. The participants generally work in the entertainment and tourism sectors, in establishments such as hotels, restaurants and holiday camps. They can apply for all different types of jobs, ranging from working as a waiter to being life guard. Sea food processing establishments in Alaska are important sources for jobs. However, the work and working conditions are respectively hard. Young people, who have been to Alaska in the past without sufficient research about the nature of the jobs, have gone through very difficult times. For the university students, as well as finding jobs in such low qualified and non-qualified jobs, it is also possible to find qualified jobs that they can do while they are taking their summer courses.

Through Work and Travel, it is possible to earn between US$ one and two thousand per month, depending on the nature of the job and the region, which can make up for at least the participation fees.
