The Golden Boll’s Surprises

The 17th International Adana Golden Boll Film Festival is getting ready to bring the latest examples of world cinema to cinema lovers. Over 200 films will be participating in the festival, which will be organized by the Adana Metropolitan Municipality between June 7th and 13th. The films which command the most attention are‘Revoluccion/Revolution’, which consists of ten short films that embrace the Mexican Revolution; ‘Crab Trap,’ which won the Fipresci Award in the Berlin Film Festival; ‘Unloved’, which is the first attempt at directing by the English actress Samantha Morton, and ‘Lebanon,’ which was nominated for many awards at festivals.

The 12 films which will compete in the festival’s anxiously awaited National Feature Film Competition have been determined. Semih Kaplanoğlu’ s ‘Bal-Honey,’ Onur Ünlü’s ‘Beş Şehir-The Five Cities,’ Seyfi Teoman’s ‘Bizim Büyük Çaresizliğimiz-Our Great Desperation,’ Atıl İnaç’s ‘Büyük Oyun-The Big Game,’ Nesli Çölgeçen’s ‘Denizden Gelen-Brought By The Sea,’ Hakan Algül’s ‘Eyvah Eyvah-Alas, Alas’ Savaş Baykal’s ‘Kanatsız Taklalar-Somersaults Without Wings,’ Selim Demir Delen’s ‘Kavşak-Crossroads,’ Zeki Demirkubuz’s ‘Kıskanmak-Jealousy,’ Levent Semerci’s ‘Nefes-Breath,’ Melik Saraçoğlu and Hakkı Kurtuluş’s ‘Orada-Over There’ and Ümit Ünal’s ‘Ses-Sound’ are among the films that will compete. The awards will be presented during the Grand Awards Ceremony on Saturday, June 12th.
