Ankara: Sculptures Made From Borax

Sculptures of the artist Genco Gülan, made by using borax mineral are displayed in Gallery Artist, in Ankara. In this exhibition called “I’m a Museum,” Gülan construes Western Anatolian Antique and Classic period sculptures using a new material and a new technique. Genco Gülan who has used borax mineral, which is used in jet and rocket fuel production, in sculpture making for the first time, aims at drawing attention to Turkey’s strategic importance in the future and to contribute to discussions about its natural reserves. When reproducing the original figures, the artist uses structure breaking and structure making techniques.
