Ankara: Murat IV At The Opera

The Ankara State Opera and Ballet will be gathering art lovers with the Murat IV Opera once again. Staged and directed by state artist Dr. Okan Demiriş, the production will be performed from January 11th to February 10th, 2010. Murat IV, known for his poetry and compositions, was ascended to the throne at a very young age and consequently had to comply with his mother Kösem Sultan’s demands for years. Murat IV, who from time to time chose to be a domineering leader in order to control public disorder, is a historic character with constant internal turmoil. It was this imaginary confusion that prepared his tragic end.
