The Nuri İyem Painting Competition, the sixth of which will be held this year, is open to all Turkish citizens who have directed their passions toward art and painting and are at least eighteen years old. The deadline for the competition is May 29 and the award ceremony will take place on June 21. In addition to 5,000 TL in prize money, the winner will receive a bronze statue designed by a member of the jury, Prof. Rahmi Aksungur.

THE WORLD HAS ITS EYE ON UNDERWATER BODRUM
The thirteenth occurrence of the bi-yearly CMAS Underwater Photo World Championship is to take place in Bodrum this year. The championship, which will be held between May 26 and 31 with the support of the Turkish Underwater Sports Federation (TSFF), has previously been held in places with abundant underwater wealth, such as L’Estartit (Spain), Mauritius, and Jeju (South Korea).
The Turkish National Team will be represented by Orhan Aytür and Kerim Sabuncuoğlu, diving partners Asım Dumlu and Birkan Babakol, and National Team Captain Bedri Sincar in the championship, in which many countries from around the world shall participate. Photographs that make it to the final and earn the right to be displayed at Bodrum Castle at a marvelous gala being held May 30 will be selected by an international jury.

DESIGNS IN COMPETITION
Applications for the Cultural Products Design Competition, organized by the Bilkent Cultural Initiative (BKG), will be accepted through May 31. The competition aims to foster the emergence of designs geared toward preserving and developing cultural inheritance. Entries will be accepted in the categories of graphic design and product design.
After the top three entries in either category of the competition are determined, those earning first place will receive 3,000 TL each and other participants whose entries make the grade will be awarded museum shop gift vouchers worth 500 TL each.
