The Opera Season Closes with Tannhäuser

Appearing in Turkey for the first time before an audience in Ankara, this three-act opera composed by Wagner was inspired by Heinrich Heine’s poem “Elemetarqeister,” which describes the story of the allure of Venus’s Grotto; E.T.A. Hoffmann’s “The Singer’s Contest”; and Johann Ludwig Tieck’s “Blond Eckbert.” The opera was staged by Prof. Hans Peter Lehmann, while Prof. Winfried Müller and Sunay Muratov conducted the orchestra. Performing as Hermann Landgraf von Thüringen were Tuncay Doğu and Tuncay Kurtoğlu, while Tannhäuser was portrayed by Ünüşan Kuloğlu and Efe Kışlalı.
