Banning Banned

The second International Youth Films Festival, which is aimed to be the voice of youth and university students in Turkey, is being held this year. The theme for the festival, which will be kicked off simultaneously on December 20 in Ankara, Istanbul, Bursa, İzmir, and Kocaeli, is “Banning.”

The questions directed by the festival within this theme to viewers are, “What is banned?” and by extension, “What should we do against censorship and bans?” Within the framework set by these questions, samples of world youth cinema as well as short films by young directors will be presented to viewers.

Among those supporting the festival are important figures in the world of cinema and music, such as Derya Alabora, Semih Kaplanoğlu, Yetkin Dikinciler, Bulutsuzluk Özlemi, and Aylin Aslım.
