IZBOB, which kicked off the new season with Selman Ada’s “50 Years of Composing” on September 28th, will be hosting seven operas, a musical, nine ballet performances, two oratorios, three children’s shows, and dozens of concerts throughout the season.
Surprises are plenty. For instance, Gluck’s opera “Iphigenia in Tauris’” will be staged by İZDOB for the first time in Turkey. Also among the new performances this year are “From Lips to Heart,” adapted from the eponymous novel by Reşat Nuri Güntekin, “The Forbidden Love’,” whose libretto was written by Tarık Günersel and was adapted from the eponymous work by Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil, and “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” based on Ken Kesey’s eponymous novel.
We shall also witness the world premiere of the ‘Kösem Sultan” ballet on the İzmir State Opera and Ballet’s stage. Productions such as “Carmina Burina,” “Don Quixote,” “Swan Lake,” and “Cinderella” will continue welcoming audiences.
