Luggage Information

Luggage InformationFree luggage allowance is 15 kg for Economy Class passengers. If your luggage exceeds these limits, please contact to nearest THY Sales Office. Furthermore, baggage exceeding 32 kg. will not be accepted in AnadoluJet flights.

If you would like to have a baggage other than a handbag  (23 x 40 x 55 cm, max. 8 kg) with you in the cabin, you should purchase an extra seat for it. In this case, the weight of the extra baggage should not exceed 75 kg, and it must be in suitable size to fit in the seat. If you are a musician, please be assured that musical instruments are not subject to this restriction.






 
Please note that you will not be allowed to carry:
  • Please pack your baggage personally or supervise the packing process. Check all closed boxes and packages. Never accept belongings from other persons for delivery to someone you don't know.

Stun guns and shock devices

Gun-shaped lighters

B- Pointed Weapons and Sharp Objects

All types of sharp and wound inflicting objects

Axes and hatchets

Arrows and darts equipment

Spears and spear guns

Mountaineering equipment (hammer, ax, hatchet, etc)

Ice skates

Blades, pocket knives, folding knives of any kind

Any kind of object made of metal or other hard material that can be used as a weapon

Razors and shaving knives
(except disposable razors and cartridges)

Swords, daggers and their cases

Surgical blades and knives (lancet, scalpel etc)

Scissors with blades longer than 6cm

Ski poles and climbing sticks

All kinds of martial arts equipment

All carpentry equipment that may be used as a weapon (drill, saw, screwdriver, hammer, etc)

C- Sports Equipment

Baseball bats

All kinds of hard or flexible sticks or bats

D- Explosive and Flammable Material

E- Chemical and Toxic Materials

Acids and wet batteries

Corrosive material (bleach and similar bleaching materials)

Self defense gases/sprays (pepper gas, mace, etc)

Infectious and biologically hazardous material

Self igniting material

Fire extinguishers

F- Material inappropriate for transportation

Explosives, hand grenades, mines

Gases: propane and butane

Flammable liquids containing gasoline and methanol

Flammable additive materials and magnesium containing reactive materials

Fireworks and flares

Bleaching and organic peroxides

Toxic and infectious materials (rat poison)

Radioactive material (medical and commercial isotopes)

Corrosive material (mercury and vehicle batteries)

System parts which have contained fuel in the past

6- Exceptions

Objects and materials not mentioned above but which are determined by local security officers as unsuitable for cabin baggage, may also be added to the above criteria.


Liquid Restrictions on Hand Luggage


Beginning of  15 April 2009, new regulations about restrictions of liquids,aerosols,  gels etc. in hand luggage.

  • Capacity of liquid container no greater than 100ml.
  • Liquid container must be carried separately  in transparent plastic bag (with ziplock)  which is 20cm by 20cm in size  and has maximum capacity 1(one) liter.
  • Each passenger may carry only  1(one) such bag of liquids.
    Essential medicines  (with prescription and original package)  and baby food are permitted.
  • Liquids: Water, syrups etc. creams, lotions, oils,  perfumes, any cosmetics. (lip gloss, mascara etc.)  toothpastes, shaving gels and foams, hair gels,  spray deodorants, contact lens solutions,  Shampoo, Jam, honey, yoghurt, etc.
Duty-Free
All tax-free liquid items purchased at the airport duty-free shops or on board must be in sealed,special plastic bag with the receipt.

Please do not open the sealed bag until the final destination. Otherwise, the content of bag maybe seized at security check points.
